St. Augustine Beaches: Our 4 Favorites

St.A Beach Pier

Do you love watching the sunrise over the horizon while listening to the waves crash against the shoreline?  That feeling of the sand between your toes and the ocean breeze flowing through your hair is something we’ve all been missing lately, but I have some great news!  Break out your sunscreen and blow up your beach balls because St. Augustine's beaches are back open!

Whether you want to brush up on your surf skills or catch up on your tan, St. Augustine has a multitude of beaches that can suit anyone’s needs.  Here are just a few of the many different beaches you can visit in St. Augustine.

Anastasia State Park Beach

Have you ever been deciding what to do for a vacation and you’re stuck between going to the beach or going camping?  At Anastasia State Park you can combine the best of both worlds!  Set up camp just steps away from the beach and enjoy your favorite beach activities during the day, then relax and spend some quality time around a campfire at night.  Why limit yourself when you can have it all?

Crescent Beach

Named for its natural crescent shape, this beach offers something a little more subtle than most other beaches.  With little commercial development and a beautiful view, you can expect to take some breathtaking pictures free from obstruction.  The sand on Crescent Beach is known for being densely packed and perfect for activities such as yoga, running, biking and volleyball.  Be sure to bring your favorite furry friend along for a stroll too as this beach is entirely dog friendly and perfect for walking!

Vilano Beach

Located just north of the historic district of downtown St. Augustine, Vilano beach is perfect for those who want to have fun on the beach after some sightseeing.  You can expect a stronger current and a heavier surf due to this beach’s location near the Matanzas Inlet so if surfing is your game, this is the perfect place to play.

On the side of the island opposite the beach is the Vilano Beach Pier.  Marked at the threshold by the Bluebird of Happiness, a restored statue from the 1940’s, this pier stands over the inland waterway and is neighbored by the restaurant, Beaches at Vilano.

At Beaches, you can sit at a table on the sand and enjoy your meal as you watch the tide coming in and the boats going out.  Beaches offers both dine in and take out options with indoor and outdoor seating and even features a full bar outside.

St. Augustine Beach

Saving the best for last, we have the City of St. Augustine Beach.  This is the perfect beach to take your family where everyone can have a good time.  Go fishing off the pier or lay out a towel and soak up the sun while the kids enjoy the beachfront park.  Complete with a kid’s splash zone, playground, and volleyball courts, there’s something for every member of the family at this beach.  After you’re done in the sun, grab a nice, cold Italian ice at Rita’s, located just south of the pier, or enjoy a delicious meal at Salt Life Food Shack right across the street.  Salt Life offers dine-in, curbside pickup and delivery as well as live music almost every day.
